It's easier to get started with our free CV examples

Let's face it, for many of us, writing a good curriculum vitae is quite a daunting task. After all, it's something we don't do every day. To help you on your way, we have placed a wide selection of professional CV examples above. You will always find a suitable example among the above CV, regardless of your education level, years of work experience, or the industry in which you work.

Personalise CV examples

Despite the fact that the above CV examples have been compiled with the greatest care, you can of course not copy them. You CV should reflect your own personality, your skills, and your professional career. In addition, it is important that you tailor your CV to the vacancy and the company where you are applying. With a good example at hand and using our CV builder, creating a CV becomes much easier! This way you always have a substantive strong example and you always get your curriculum vitae drawn up in a professional, well-arranged CV template.

If you are looking for a new job, we advise you to proceed as follows;

  1. Decide what kind of job you would like to apply for.

  2. Make a selection of vacancies or companies where you would like to work.

  3. Find an example among our CV examples that appeals to you or applies to your personal situation.

  4. Now determine which skills, knowledge or characteristics are essential for the position you want to apply for and how you can demonstrate these from previous (work) experience or training.

  5. Start creating your CV now. Present the most important information high on the CV. Are you stuck somewhere? Take a look at our blog for useful tips about specific parts of the CV.

Create a good curriculum vitae

It is important to realise that employers often receive many responses per vacancy. That is why we advise applicants to always ensure that the most important information is placed as high as possible on the curriculum vitae. An employer must be able to see at a glance that you are a suitable candidate for the open vacancy. IF that is not the case, an employer will quickly move on the next candidate.

In setting up a good CV, we recommend that you include at least the following elements;

Personal details

Of course, you always start a CV with your personal details; name, e-mail address, telephone number, and home address. In united Kingdom, possession of a driver's license is also often referred to as personal data. If you have a personal website or a representative LinkedIn profile, it is good to place a link to it.

Work experience

After submitting your personal information, proceed with mentioning your work experience. The most common is to present your work experience in chronological order. That is, you start with your most recent work experience and then name your previous jobs. You do this because your last job is usually the most relevant to your future employer. When describing your work experience, try to emphasise tasks and responsibilities that are also important in the position you are applying for. If your last work experience is not the most relevant in your personal situation, consider a different structure of your CV.

Education

If you already have several years of work experience, it is customary to place your (pre-) education lower on the CV. Employers usually find work experience more relevant than training you followed years ago. Of course, you name this, because it is an indication of your work and thinking level.

Skills

Certain skills are required to practice any profession. When preparing your CV, think about which skills are most important for the position you want to apply for. Name these skills and indicate your level.

Additional optional parts

You should find the above elements on every CV and form the basis. However, if you want to compete with other candidates, it would be a good idea to see which of the components.

Personal profile

A good CV always starts with a personal profile. In this opening paragraph, introduce yourself briefly, explaining what you are good at and what you are looking for. Pay sufficient attention to your profile, this is often the most carefully read. Check out the CV examples above to get inspiration for your own profile or read our blog about writing a personal profile with many examples.

Courses and certificates

Have you taken courses or maybe even obtained certificates that can be of added value for your new employer? Then it is good to include this in your CV. Courses and certificates also endorse a certain degree of inquisitiveness and focus on self-development. That's another reason to add them to your CV.

References

By listing references on your CV, you give extra credibility to all the claimed knowledge, skills, and attributes in the CV. This indicates that people you have worked with can confirm these claims. Because of their privacy, it is not wise to include their contact details on your initial CV. Instead, you should limit yourself to naming their name and function. Only when references are checked can you provide contact details with their permission.

Achievements

Do you really want to be one step ahead of other candidates? You can get that by listing achievements on your CV. Preferably you do this on the basis of percentages or striking examples. This shows that you are an ambitious employee with a passion for the work. Performance also appeals to an employer's imagination, because employers like to read what you can do for their organisation.

Extra-activities

Extracurricular activities are activities that you perform outside your working hours, for example, voluntary work at an organisation, club, or association. These activities can be a great addition to work experience. For example, you can use them to demonstrate skills that you have little or no experience within a professional setting. In addition, secondary activities demonstrate a high degree of involvement.

Hobbies and interests

Adding hobbies or interests to the CV is especially recommended when they are related to the position or industry you want to work in. The part is certainly not an obligation, but it does give a "personal touch" to the CV. This will certainly be appreciated when there is an informal corporate culture.
